"First and foremost, learning should be fun and children should be rewarded for positive behavior. It is essential to find the right balance between encouragement and discipline, and between personal expression and structure. Learning to read music at an early age is beneficial on an academic level and a personal level. Music lessons can have a positive effect on a child's self confidence and self worth that will have a lasting and lifelong effect."
Carrie first realized her passion for music and arts education while working as a volunteer tutor for AmeriCorps and later as the Program Coordinator for the After School Program at a public school in East Palo Alto. Then, after years of working in various positions in human resources, payroll, the software industry and real estate, Carrie came to a crossroads in her career path and chose to pursue her love for music and music education.
The decision to strike out on her own in 2007 was a scary step at first, but it was one of the best decisions she ever made. Carrie loves to work one on one with students to help provide a supportive environment and a creative outlet for her students. It is a joy for her to watch her students learn and to grow musically. One of Carrie's favorite things about teaching is that there is never a dull moment!
